Mortgage Quality Assurance Analyst:

The Mortgage Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst role is responsible for reviewing common mortgage loan types and underlying collateral property types, from traditional origination sources. Review responsibilities include the customary types of transactions most frequently seen in the lending industry. Additional responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

Specific accountabilities include re-underwriting original credit and collateral lending decisions, identifying red flags, performing fraud investigation work, examining loan servicing activity, and determining if targeted loan selections met the terms, conditions, representations and warranties of the applicable contractual documents and underwriting guidelines relevant to the origination and sale of the loan file(s). Additional activities include preparation of written loan summaries, repurchase letters, and correspondence to clients suitable to professionally summarize loan findings and any related breaches of representations and warranties. Role may also assist with the collection, organization, and distribution of credit and servicing loan file documentation.

Position will also have increasing levels of responsibility to evaluate repurchase denials from loan originators and/or sellers, to see if they are justified, warrant further review, or are without sufficient merit or substance to invalidate the indicated breach (es). Responsibilities include conducting research, with appropriate internal and external parties, to justify final resolution for all loan files being considered for repurchase.

Minimum Qualifications:

Four to six years mortgage banking experience, with a minimum of three years in underwriting and/or fraud review of prime, sub-prime, conforming and non-conforming loans. Strong negotiating skills, the ability to read and interpret loan sale contractual documents, and the ability to compromise are all required. Position requires a four year degree in business, accounting, finance or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Individual must be well spoken, with excellent writing and presentation skills. An exemplary Customer Service orientation and attitude towards both internal and external parties is a requisite for this position. An ability to handle and accomplish multiple tasks and resolve competing priorities effectively is essential. Individual must be a proven Team Player, with strong initiative and flexibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous credit risk management, surveillance, mortgage servicing and/or loss mitigation experience. Significant exposure to various Asset Backed Security structures and/or prior post-funding due diligence experience related to the sale of mortgage backed assets. Government lending experience is a plus. Familiarity with various loan origination and/or servicing system platforms, and/or imaging software is a benefit.
